Project Subject:
Strategy and Plan to Develop Capital Market The post-war reconstruction of the country and its private sector led to the need for innovative ways of providing term and permanent capital for business enterprises. These were to originate from the list of companies to be privatised and from SMEs in the private sector. The work led to the recommendation that a venture capital business be set up with funding from a consortium of institutions in the country. This would assist through close monitoring and the provision of services and technical assistance to ensure that smaller and weak companies with a promising future could be developed to become responsible companies that had raised funds from the public. A longer-term plan was also prepared that outlined the way forward for the creation of a small share trading facility once privatisation had been carried out and new brokers set up.
