DevPar has carried out assignments in private sector development that have been at the country and regional level, as well as at the level of the individual firm. The settings have included countries where the private sector has emerged from a history of central economic management without the normal stimuli and support available in developed countries. Our experience in financial sector development is relevant to private sector development in providing one of the key inputs to development, namely financing.
Our work in the private sector has included projects to stimulate development through the establishment of organisations, and preparing programs, that contribute to training entrepreneurs, providing businesses with support services, facilitating business development and export opportunities, and influencing policy and legal change.
Chambers of Commerce, Business Advisory Centres, Innovation Centres, and other stimulating organizations, have been helped, established, and strengthened. Facilitating the set-up of international joint ventures and cooperative agreements, for expanding product lines and increasing exports, is another area of activity in which DevPar has participated.
Some Private Sector Programs have been focused on the provision of consulting services to individual firms. These have included diagnostic evaluations, business planning, product and service development, market expansion, introducing joint ventures and other technical services, including staff training.
